Natural Post Nasal Drip Treatment
Author: john daniel
Post nasal drip and sinusitis are not the same but rather it is the symptoms of an infected sinus, this is also caused with a common cold, flu attack and an allergic reaction which are sometimes severe enough to block the sinuses. Chronic sinusitis is often accompanied by post nasal drip too, as well as painful headaches. . Post nasal drip can be caused by dry air, air pollution, allergy, dust mites, pollen or animal dander, from dogs or cats. Post nasal drip is just one of the many symptoms of a potential sinus infection that also includes a runny nose, discharge of phlegm and mucous, a cough, bad breath and puffiness in the face. Post nasal drip consists of a runny nose along with phlegm and mucous being discharged. If the sinuses are inflamed, it affects the normal drainage of mucous of an individual.
Conventional type of post nasal drip treatment that may be potent is the intake of antihistamines and the other one is the pseudoephedrine which some specialist recommended. Among the nasal sprays afrin is the most recommended one. But is not the best choice to treat a seasonal or chronic allergy symptom according to some naturopaths. Alternative studies suggest that theses medications can actually thicken the mucous, limiting the drainage in the sinus leading to an infection.

Home Remedy for Chronic Nasal Inflammation & Congestion?
My nasal passage are chronically swollen and inflamed. Serious allergies other than seasonal have been ruled out, and I’ve simply tried to tolerate this as I cannot take antihistamines or decongestants due to adverse reactions, but the post-nasal drip is driving me insane. I do not like to take medications and would rather try natural remedies, supplements, nutrition cures etc…
I’ve tried many of the obvious remedies, such as steaming, drinking plenty of fluids, hot/cold compresses, etc. so I would appreciate any ideas you might have. [Thanks!]
PS- please, no spamming to wholesale vitamin websites
nasal flushes? using vicks at night?my wife does this. she puts a little just at the edge of each nostril. there are homeopathic websites for this.
What are some Holistic Remedies to deal w/Chronic allergies?
I have had chronic allergies since forever. Chronic post nasal drip, puffy eyes in the morning, itchy eyes. Really I have become used to it. But for two weeks I was takign Claritin and some nasanex spray, it cleared me right up. My voice sounded more clear, and I did not have to chew gum all day to fix my breeath. It was awesome, except the claritin kept me up all night long. The nasal spray alone did nothing to help. I havent called my allergy dr yet, I am wanting to try something more natural. Anyone had any luck and want to share?
maybe “bee pollen.”..BUT FIRST SEE A HERBOLOGIST…OR GO TO A HERB STORE…or look on the internet for natural products with regards to allergies….
My cat has seasonal allergies? What can I do?
My cat has seasonal allergies. He itches his ears till they are red, recently he is chewing at his front paws, he sneezes like crazy, gets a mild nasal drip, the skin around his eyes gets red, and sometimes he gets an asthmatic reaction but the vet says his lungs sound fine. I don’t know what to do, I hate giving animals benadryl. He has gotten a steroid injection once to control the asthma/coughing but he was lethargic for like 5 days. What else is there? Any natural remedies?
Lots of good answers, but he is more itchy than anything. I feed him wellness canned food with the occasional bit of organic kibble because he likes the crunch. My vet did say he has allergies, and suggested children’s benadryl and steroid shots. I’ve been reading a lot of bad stuff about shots and animals although I’m not sure if that only pertains to vaccines. Just didn’t know if there were any other natural things I could give him. I like the pure saline idea.
I also live in NC where pollen is flying like crazy, I can’t even open my window.
I also called my vet, they do have a holistic vet on site. I may bring him to a dermatologist, he gets acne very easily, even with stainless steel bowls. Thanks everyone!
If the problem reoccurs every year, consider a visit to a veterinary dermatologist. The specialist can help determine what the cat is allergic to and provide the appropriate treatment. Some animals benefit from special diets, others need allergy desensitization injections. There are also different medications that can control the reaction and diminish the itching, nasal discharge and coughing. When left untreated, some cats progress to a chronic asthma situation, so a veterinary visit is a good idea. Never give your cat any over the counter medication without first discussing it with your veterinarian and verifying the dosage.
Tinnitus or middle ear infection or both?
I woke up with a very full feeling in both ears a few mornings ago. I got in my car, turned on the radio and thought I had my bass setting up too loud. Turns out I did not. I thought they were getting a little better by the end of the day, but woke up the next morning even worse. One ear is worse than the other. What started out as pulsating with each outside sound, like someone talking would make my ears make whooshing sounds with each syllable, etc.-now has turned into constant whirring or roaring sound in my left ear. I want to say it’s sinus related, because I do have allergies and the weather has been crazy. I also woke up with a sore tonsil on the same side of the worse ear. I have an excess of post nasal drip as well. I just wonder if it’s worth going to a doctor for or will it just have to clear up on its own. I also wonder if anyone has tried any natural remedies. I am due to leave town in 5 days and I’m dreading the plane ride with this condition! I am very uncomfortable. I tried a decongestant to no avail. I tried a warm compress which helped for a few minutes and I’ve been taking Advil every few hours. I guess I also fear permanent tinnitus as a result of this. I haven’t seen any kind of discharge from either ear and I don’t feel necessarily “sick” and my sore throat has gone away. Ready to pull my hair out! This noise is actually vibrating my ear pretty hard.
this is not tinnitus see a doctor or an e n t specialist
Chronic Cough will not Go Away!?
I have had a cough for about 4 months now.
I have asthma and allergies. I am taking advair, singulair, and rhinocort. I feel like I have a post-nasal drip a lot of the time. I also have acid reflux, for which i am taking protonix.
I do not smoke.
I have had a sinus scan and chest x-ray, with negative results.
Reasons for cough?
Any natural or homeopathic remedies?
Obviously I did go to the doctor if i have had a chest xray and sinus scan, idiot
go get some Reiki done and see if that helps…. also Cranial Sacral is really good for your nose drip because it actually moves the bones in your head to help oxygen and blood move more freely…. i would also say get some Acupressure done, it will help balance out your Chi and get you feeling better…. Also when i get like that i drink hot green tea with 2 menthol coughdrops and a bit of sugar or honey!!!! the heat will clear your sinuses and the tea and coughdrops will calm your throat!! it works for me every time, i promice
good luck!!!
