Home Remedy for Dog Allergy Relief

Author: Deborah Gewock

Is your dog sneezing and rubbing his eyes with his paws? If your answer was YES, there is a good chance your pet has allergies. They are no different from you and me. They can suffer from all types of allergies including food, environmental and seasonal. If your pet is scratching, itching and sneezing there are home remedies that can help to relieve these symptoms and alleviate their suffering.

  • Giving your dog a bath in cool colloidal oatmeal will help to soothe the itching.
  • A dog that is constantly licking and scratching at his paws could be experiencing the affects of allergies. A cool bath with Epson salts can help relieve the itching. Do not allow him to drink the water.
  • You may need to change your dogs' diet. There is a chance that he is reacting to one or more of the ingredients in his pet food. If you are feeding him table scraps, this could be another reason. Not only does this have the potential to cause his allergies, it can also mess up his digestive system, which will lead to other problems.
  • Try to watch his routine throughout the day. There is a chance you will see him react to something, either in the house or out in the yard.
  • Consider the possibility that he is allergic to his bedding. Some dogs have an allergic reaction to cottons and wools. If he starts to experience a reaction when he is on his bed, you will want to change out the bed or type of fabric that covers it.

Like people, dogs can also be allergic to pollens from flowers, grass and other outdoor allergens. Natural remedies are the best solution for your pets' allergies. You can help to relieve his symptoms and ease his suffering just by watching to see what is causing the allergy.

    Home Remedies for Cat Allergies?
I know this may sound silly to some people, but my cat has really bad allergies. My mom has taken her to the doctor and got her medication once which helped a little bit, but she stopped giving her the medicine because we ran out. She won’t get any more. My poor cat is miserable and I don’t know what to do without the prescribed medication. There seems to be home remedies for everything, so I was wondering if you guys knew of any home remedies for cat allergies.

    Thanks in advance. :]

First, have the vet check him to make sure it’s allergies and not a URI. My cat has allergies. I run an air purifier for him which helps alot with his symptoms. If your vet approves, you can give him Benedryl. Your vet can give you the correct dosage for your cat. I use Temeril from the vet (not expensive) because I don’t like the messy foaming at the mouth Benedryl causes. Make sure to vacuum and dust well and use dust free kitty litter.

There are alot of home remedies talked about but homemade vetting can be disastrous and can cost a fortune in repairing damage done if the cat survives.

Since your cat has already been on medication, you might be able to pick up some more without bringing the cat in. The Temeril I get from the vet cost $5 for 20 pills which is about the same price as Benedryl. If you use Benedryl, make sure you get plain children’s formula without any added medicine for headache, etc. Human painkillers like ibuprofen and acetaminophen are toxic to cats. Since I began using the air purifier, I hardly ever have to give my cat meds anymore.

Does anyone know any at home remedies for allergies?
I am allergic to dust, pet dander, feathers, pollen, God this is a long list. My boyfriend has 3 cats so I can’t just avoid them. I am taking OTC Severe Alergy medicine but it’s not working. I have been on every single allergy medicine out today, including some experimental medicines. But nothing has stopped it. Does anyone know any secret family remedies or treatments?

open a window to give him some fresh outside air, that may help him.it depends on what is causing the allergies.vacuuming or sweeping maybe.cleaners you use.it has to be something in the house.

    Need help with cat allergies?
I just brought my new cat home. I am allergic to cats, but I have never been this bad. We had a cat before for like 15 years and I was fine. My throat is itchy and my nose is runny. I just took a benadryl. Are there any at home remedies to cat allergies? Also, is there any way my body will get used to this allergy? Like can I overcome it somehow? I am not taking her back!

Actually the same thing happened to me! I had gotten two kittens and started noticing my allergies getting worse and worse but I was to attached to my kitties to ever get rid of them. What helped me was taking claritin but if you need a stronger medication I would suggest talking to your doctor and, possibly, getting prescription medication.

And about getting used to your allergies. I did get used to my allergies and I no longer had to take medication so your body could get used to your new cat. I hope everything works out (I am sure it will) and have fun with your new kitty!!!
